Brabender GmbH Bought By Austrian Measurement Company
Leading metrology company Anton Paar buys 100-year old firm, known in the U.S. as C.W. Brabender.
Brabender GmbH has been acquired by Anton Paar, the companies announced in a press release posted on their websites. Brabender, headquartered in Duisburg, Germany, with a U.S. office in South Hackensack, N.J., will be integrated into the Anton Paar Group as Anton Paar TorqueTec GmbH. The effective, retroactive date of the acquisition is Jan. 1, 2023. Terms were not disclosed.
Brabender offers a wide range of testing and measurement instruments along with single- and twin-screw extruders. The company marked its 100th anniversary this year.
Founded in 1922, Anton Paar is a world leader in the measurement
of density and concentration, the determination of dissolved carbon dioxide, and in the fields of rheometry and viscometry. Anton Paar’s customers include most of the major beer and soft drink manufacturers worldwide,
companies active in the food, chemicals, petroleum, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as leading academic groups, the company says.

“The decisive factor for Anton Paar's decision to purchase Brabender was the know-how in the development and production of world-leading measuring instruments,” says Anton Paar CEO Dr. Friedrich Santner. “In line with its own long-term strategy, Anton Paar will sustainably expand and further strengthen Brabender's sites in Duisburg and Hackensack.”
Brabender’s approximately 200 employees will become part of Anton Paar. The acquisition represents a clear commitment to progress, according to Brabender Executive Director Dr. David Szczesny: “Being part of the Anton Paar Group opens up many opportunities for us — in research and development of our innovative products as well as in sales and service. For us, this is a great move that will definitely benefit our employees and customers,” he states.
