Arterex Acquires Micromold

The medical device contract manufacturing company with eight facilities globally has purchased the Riverside, California-based micromolder.

Arterex, a medical device developer and contract manufacturer, has acquired Micromold Inc., which has supplied custom micromolded parts from California since 1984. At its facility in Riverside, California, Micromold operates 20 Boy injection molding machines ranging in clamp force from 10 to 33 tons in both vertical and horizontal configurations.

Arterex, which arose from the combination of NextPhase, Formula Plastics, Kabo, Luc & Bel and ModenPlast, operates nine manufacturing facilities on three continents with more than 1,200 employees. Micromold will continue 24/7 operations within Arterex’s Formula Plastics division, located in Tecate, Mexico, utilizing its 3,000-ft2 Class 8 certified clean room. It will continue to serve the medical, diagnostics, optical, dental and laboratory markets working under ISO13485:2016 certification and as an FDA-registered facility. In September 2023, Arterex announced the opening of a 25,000-ft2 sales and distribution facility in San Diego.

The Tecate, Mexico, facility was formerly Formula Plastics, with ISO Class 8 assembly and injection molding capacity, plastic joining and decorating technologies, including radio frequency and ultrasonic welding, solvent and UV bonding, and various decorating technologies.
